Here is the article from the Review-Journal: People Moving from California to Vegas
What’s Driving The Relocation From California to Las Vegas?
First off, most of my clients are telling me it’s quality of life issues. Crime, homelessness and traffic tend to be the top 3 reasons people are leaving California. The other reasons are new job or career opportunities as well as no state income taxes. In California, that could be a 13% savings of someone’s income. Other reason include more tech companines leaving California which create more job opportunities here in Las Vegas. Switch, Google and Amazon continue to invest millions of dollars in Clark County. As your Summerlin Realtor, I keep up with all of the current trends and information that will affect Las Vegas and our future.
With the addition of professional sports in the past 6 years, Las Vegas has gained the NFL, NHL, MLB and now more than likely the NBA. The amount of growth and change I have seen in 20 years of living here is truly amazing. I have seen more businesses move here, more housing being built and developed as well as a strong economic future for Las Vegas.
What Else is Coming to Las Vegas?
Back April and May, I talked about the possibility of the motion picture industry coming to Summerlin and Las Vegas. The State legislature still needs to pass SB 496 which would provide tax credits and incentives to these companies. If they move out here, they will need to hire at least 50% of Nevadans as their primary work force. More than likely this is still several years off from being a reality but it does focus on Nevada as a pro business state. In the coming years, we will see more growth and more demand from tourism as well.
By 2037, our current airport will be unable to keep up with demand. There are now talks of a new airport being built closer to stateline in an brnad new city that will be created by the state legislature. Check out that information here: Southern Nevada Supplemental Airport Construction will start by 2029. The project is called the Souther Nevada Supplemental Airport.
What Do The Next 10 Years Look Like For Las Vegas?
More jobs, more housing, and more opportunities will be coming in the next decade. As Las Vegas continues to grow as a city and as an economy, things will continue to look bright. Home inventory will continue to be a challenge so I am hoping that more land will become available for new home construction.
