Oakland A’s Finally Find a New Home!

The Oakland A’s will move to Las Vegas! Their Las Vegas move is confirmed by ESPN and The Las Vegas Review-Journal are reporting that the Oakland A’s have agreed to purchase 49 acres of land at Tropicana and the I-15 freeway. This location is near T Mobile arnea that is currently the host of the Las Vegas NHL team The Vegas Golden Knights. A retractable roof 35,000 seat stadium will be built on land that is owned by Red Rock Resorts also known as Station Casinos. There was talk of 3 different locations and yet this one was the final pic. There was talk about the Tropicana Hotel, The Life is Beautiful location and The Rio Hotel were all put out there as possible locations.  This makes sense since Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos) wants to develop more hotels catering to locals. 3 new locations are at Inspirada in Henderson, Durango and the 215 and Skye Canyon. With this deal in place, count on Station Casinos to be a major player in town for hotels and casinos!

Further Details: 

Speculation has been running wild for a very long time if this would actually happen. It’s confirmed. We know that the stadium should break ground next year and be completed by 2027. Aparently, this will be a public/private partnership but those details are still unknown. The bigger question remains where will the Oakland A’s play from 2024 to 2027? Will they extend their current lease in Oakland? This still remains a mystery.

The New Las Vegas Location: 

Currently there is a $300,000,000.00 project to transform the 15 freeway and Tropicana Blvd by NDOT.

The interchange being built will create better traffic flow for the area. The area will now be known as the sports hub since you have T Mobile, Allegiant Stadium and now The A’s stadium all within a 1 mile radius of each other. I just hope all 3 do not have games at the same time! With better freeway access and the talk of a pedestrian bridge linking T Mobile and the new baseball stadium expect this area to totally change! It would not surprise me to see Station Casinos building a hotel next to the stadium. They own 100 acres and are only selling 49 acres leaving a lot of speculation.

How Will This Affect Las Vegas Real Estate?

This will affect it big time! Players, support staff, management as well as team lawyers, doctors and others that make up the team will have to relocate to Las Vegas. The luxury housing market right now is already low with a lack of inventory.

Just like the rest of the Las Vegas housing market. The luxury housing market will go up in value if properties start to get purchased by these team members.

I expect to see developments like Ascension Summerlin take off since it’s a direct route of only 14-15 miles from Tropicana and Town Center to Tropicana and the 15.
