November 21, 2024Relocating to Las Vegas from Los Angeles-My personal story… I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and spent almost 30 years of my life in Los Angeles. In this blog, I want to discuss the reasons why I left Los Angeles as well as what my life is like now in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a Las Vegas Realtor and resident for over 21 years now, I see the difference in my quality of life as well as living in a state that is business friendly. Let’s talk about the reasons why I left and why you may want to do what I did….Is Las Vegas or Summerlin right for you? As your Summerlin Realtor, I can help you find your new Summerlin Home or help you with Las Vegas real estate too.
Quality of Life:
Topic # 1 for me is quality of life. Like several other clients of mine that Left California, their number 1 concern was quality of life. Homelessness, traffic, crime, and cost of living are the major factors I hear over and over again from my relocated California clients. Back in the 1990’s I noticed that traffic in LA was really bad. My commute times just to go 10 miles was over an hour each way. From the San Fernando Valley into West Los Angeles, it took me at least an hour on the 405 or in the Sepulveda Pass. Now, it’s even worse. When you are sitting in traffic for hours a day, think about how much time you are losing over the span of a year. 2 hours a day times 260 days a year (Not including weekends) equals 520 hours a year sitting in traffic! Yikes!
Here in Las Vegas we have traffic but only at peak hours in the mornings and afternoons like it was in the 1980’s in Los Angeles. I do not sit in hours of traffic out here. My commutes are short and quick! I love it! I can easily get from one part of Las Vegas to another in less than 30 minutes. Where I live in Summerlin, I have everything around me and it’s about a 10 to 15 minute drive to shopping, restaurants, casinos, recreational activities, and much more! If you are into hiking, mountain biking, shooting, 4X4ing, and more check out my Summerlin page for more information about this area.
Business Development in Las Vegas:
In the past 21 years that I have called Las Vegas home, I have seen the city grow and change for the better. More industries have come into the city. Tech companies such as Amazon, Google and Switch call Las Vegas home. Professional sports teams from the NHL, NFL, and now MLB. All of this brings in more people to Las Vegas and the surrounding cities such as Summerlin and Henderson.
In 2025, we will see the motion picture industry plant roots in Summerlin with the Sony Summerlin Studio Project and possibly Warner Brothers coming to Las Vegas as well. The state of Nevada is very business friendly and will continue to attract people from California and other states.
The future of Las Vegas looks bright! More people are coming to this city for better opportunities as well as a better quality of life. I know my life is different now than it was when I was living in Los Angeles.
