First off, there are numerous Summerlin Gated Communities so it depends on what types of communities you are looking for. Are you looking for a Summerlin Luxury home? There are several large Summerlin gated communities such as The Ridges Summerlin, Red Rock Country Club and Ascension Summerlin. The Ridges Summerlin:
The Ridges Summerlin Village is a 793 acre exclusive guard gated residential village with several custom home site neighborhoods that make up The Ridges Summerlin. The interior gated communities include Falcon Ridge, Arrowhead, Promontory, Redhawk, Rimrock, The Pointe and Azure. Located near Downtown Summerlin, the 215 Beltway, Red Rock Casino, Red Rock Conservation Area, shops and restaurants, The Ridges Summerlin is a great place to live in.
The Bear’s Best Golf Course is featured through out the community in The Ridges. Besides a beautiful golf course, there are Tennis Courts, walking trails, a community gym and pool. These are just a few community offerings in The Ridges. In addition, there are homes built by William Lyons and Toll Brothers as well as custom home sites and custom builders.
The Ridges offers an amazing life style. Luxury homes that blend into the natural environment of the community and show case the surrounding areas. Red Rock Country Club:
Red Rock Country Club is located near the 215 Beltway and Sahara. There are 2 guard gated communities. The West Gate and the East Gate. Both gated entrances are monitored and secured. Red Rock Country Club features single story and two story homes. Several communities within this area also have another gated entrance into them besides the main gate entry points. Red Rock Country Club features tennis courts, 2 golf courses ( 1 Public and 1 Private) 2 community pools, a social gathering place, and state of the art security.
The location is within a 3 minute drive to Downtown Summerlin, easy 215 Beltway access, shopping and restaurants are close by too. This is a great community to live in. Situated around mountains and lush mature landscaping, Red Rock Country Club has it all!
As of the date of this blog post, homes prices start around $1,200,000.00 and can go over $3,500,000.00. Square footage starts around 2,100 square feet and can go over 5,000 square feet.

Ascension Summerlin:
One of Summerlin’s newest gated communities, Ascension Summerlin offers 6 subdivisions to choose from. 3 from Toll Brothers include Highrock, Ridgeline and Crestline. Pulte Homes include Caprock, The Pointe and Incline. If you are looking for single stories or two story homes, Ascension Summerlin offers you the chance to build a brand new home located in a gated community. The community is the first one to make up The Peaks Village in Summerlin South.
Located at the intersection of Town Center and Tropicana, this 561 acre community is currently building out 231 semi-custom home sites. When completed, this community will feature pickelball courts, 2 swimming pools, a golf simulator, hiking and walking trails, several community parks and much more. Ascension Summerlin has been under construction for the past 2 years now and will be located close to the upcoming Sony Studios Project in Summerlin. Ascension Summerlin is located south of The Summit Club Summerlin and north of Mesa Ridge Summerlin. Both of these are Summerlin Gated Communities as well.

As a former police officer, I can tell you that gated communities will add a certain level of security. However, it does not give you 100% security. If someone wants to find a way into one of these communities, they will. If you are looking to restrict access to the general public and want to live in a controlled environment, the communities listed above will serve that purpose. Security is a very important factor when buying into a gated community, that’s fine but you also need make sure your home is secure to prevent burglaries etc.
This means having areas with security cameras, trimming and maintaining landscaping that does not provide cover to burglars. It also means making sure your home’s exterior has plenty of lighting and not having hiding spaces for people to wait for you. Making sure you have secured your home as well as being proactive are my goals with my clients that are looking for added security for their new home.
Gated communities can sometimes offer a false sense of security. Making sure you have all of the information before you sign a purchase contract is my goal with you.
